Why mentor?
A caring adult makes a difference in a child's life. Mentoring builds self-esteem, improves academic performance, positively influences attitudes, models citizenship, and expands horizons. You can make this kind of a difference in a child's life! And you might be surprised by the impact this relationship has on you!
The Commitment
Mentors commit to at least one one-hour visit a month from September through May. Once approved (i.e., once application, background check, and training are complete), each mentor is paired with an elementary student, and a set time for visits during the school day is established.
To guide the mentor-student time, mentors are equipped with a monthly curriculum guide that covers a virtue and offers games and activities. Sometimes mentors help their students with schoolwork.
